WHEN WOULD YOU LIKE TO STAY?
Laurel House is owned and run by the husband and wife team of Jeff & Alex Fazal. Built in 1750, this traditional Cumbrian farmhouse offers a warm welcome & a tranquil stay for the discerning traveller. The elegant and spacious bedrooms are well appointed with either Kingsize or Superkingsize beds - each has a private bathroom or shower room supplied with heated towel rails and quality toiletries. All rooms have tea/coffee facilities along with comfortable seating areas supplied with armchairs and footstools. Alex's traditional Cumbrian breakfasts, along with Jeff's homemade bread, were awarded a Visit Britain Breakfast Award in 2010, and are served in our Orangery conservatory. They consist of fresh fruit, quality locally sourced produce, fresh coffee/breakfast tea and a vegetarian option.
The comfort and ambience of Laurel House was recognised with a Visit Britain 4 Star Gold Award in 2010, followed by a prestigious 5 Star Award in 2011.
Just 10 minutes drive from J40 of the M6, we are ideally placed for visiting family staying at Center Parcs, or as an overnight stay on the way to Scotland. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate children under 16, or pets.
It would be hard to find a better place to stay. Laurel House is a lovely old house with large garden in an attractive village, perfect as a base for the beautiful Eden Valley and Alex and Jeff are wonderful hosts- welcoming, friendly, generous and helpful. Our room was beautifully furnished with a super-comfortable bed and en-suite with good shower. Tea and scones on arrival and delicious breakfast. This was our second stay here, I hope and expect it will not be our last. Alex and Jeff's kindness ensures that guests feel relaxed and at home. They do everything necessary and more to make your stay enjoyable. In-house entertainment provided by two friendly, well-behaved Jack Russells.
My husband and I spent 3 nights at this lovely B and B. Room was great. Alex and Jeff were so friendly and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend...
Laurel House was a lovely home set in a peaceful village. We awoke each morning to birds singing and a gorgeous breakfast which was freshly cooked to order. The bed was so comfortable and the house was kept spotlessly clean. Jeff and Alex went out of their way to make you feel at home and nothing was too much bother to them. They were also a mine of information on the local area. You could not do any better in a five star hotel for luxury and pampering. Would highly recommend a stay at Laurel House.
From either J40 of the M6, or from Scotch Corner, follow the A66 to Temple Sowerby, where you will see the signs for B6412 Culgaith. Following the Culgaith signs pass the Hazel Dene garden centre and go across the railway up the hill and into Culgaith. 100 metres past the 30mph sign turn first right, at the village hall, into the road to Skirwith. Laurel House is 20 metres on the left, between the first two street lamps, and with two large Copper Beech trees in the garden.
